Submitting Applications On-Line

Building Warrants

The City of Edinburgh Council now provides a number of Planning and Building Standards services online through its Planning and Building Standards Portal. Through the Portal you can now submit, view, and follow the progress of Building Warrant applications and/or Planning applications.

Site Registration

To submit an application you first need to register with the Council. The document below offers a step-by-step guide through the registration process. Registration is free and only takes a few minutes.

Making a Building Warrant Application

The Portal uses ‘wizards’, a programme that asks a step-by-step series of questions tailored by the responses you give, to help you complete warrant forms, submit drawings and pay the appropriate fee.
The document below offers guidance on this process. Please note that when you submit a Building Warrant application, the information will appear on the Building Standards Register displayed on the Council's website.

Making a Planning Application

The link here will take you to a similar page providing guidance and information on submitting Planning applications. Please note that when you submit a Planning application, the information will appear on the Planning Register and the completed forms and any associated documentation will also be published on the Council's website.
