Private Housing Strategy

The City of Edinburgh Council’s Private Housing Strategy complements both the City Housing Strategy and the Homelessness Strategy.

The Strategy was developed following extensive consultation with a range of internal and external partners and focuses on two aims:

• To increase the contribution that private housing makes to meet a range of housing needs and demands; and
• To improve the quality of Edinburgh’s private housing.

The key principles of the Strategy are:

• Individual responsibility
• Partnership.
