Additional Support for LearningBack to Schools in Edinburgh Children may experience problems in learning for a variety of reasons. Additional support needs are identified through observation and assessment by staff and through discussion with pupils and parents. Where appropriate, the child's needs will be investigated further by referral to specialist support services. A range of additional support is available and targeted according to the child's needs. This may include additional support for bilingual pupils and gifted and talented children, as well as support for pupils with speech and language difficulties, learning difficulties and emotional or behavioural problems.
