History with Puppets in the Summer Gardens

Special Puppet Shows in the Lauriston Castle Gardens with Alba Adventure Company.

Come along and join the fun with the Alba Puppet Crew.  Learn some tales from Scotland's history in a new and fun way.  You will have a chance to meet Eddie the Knight playing the part of the Black Douglas as he helps Robert the Bruce capture Edinburgh Castle. Meet the Mad Monk of Old Edinburgh and see his antics as he prepares for the King's arrival. The ever popular Hamish the Highlander will recreate the story of the Jacobites and the ancient legend of the Last Bear of Scotland will finish off the tales.

Held annually the Lauriston Lectures give a rare opportunity to listen to some of Scotland’s foremost experts. This year’s lectures include; Scottish architecture, the life and work of Jane Austen and tales of elusive fairies and their sometimes dark influence on Scottish literature and art.

There are more than 25 different lectures to choose from. A tour of the Castle with coffee and cakes is included in the price, with the opportunity to visit parts of the building not usually open to the public.
