Housing policies and strategies

The City of Edinburgh Council is responsible for developing strategies to:

  • ensure that there is enough affordable housing in the city
  • ensure properties are well managed and maintained
  • give people good quality advice and information
  • encourage active tenant participation
  • prevent homelessness and assist people to access the private rented market.

This work is underpinned by a sound understanding of the housing markets and the needs of people that live in Edinburgh.
