What does Edinburgh Stair Cleaning Service do?
By joining the Edinburgh Stair Cleaning Service you'll be able to enjoy a clean stair, without any effort! Say goodbye to organising a cleaning rota and cleaning the stair yourself. Or even worse, being constantly frustrated at walking into a dirty, uncared for tenement.

Who will clean your stair?
Any contractors used by the City of Edinburgh Council have been through the Council's tendering process and were selected on the basis of value for money, reliability and quality of work.

Delivering a high quality service, that's value for money, is our prioirity. That's why we monitor the service on a daily basis.

What is our standard clean?
We will carry out our standard clean on every visit, which consists of:

• lifting the mats
• sweeping down the stair to remove dust and small items of debris
• disposing of dust/debris
• applying water and cleaning solution
• finishing off with a clean mop rinsed with clean water and mopped dry
• wiping down handrails with a damp cloth
• sweeping and mopping the front and back steps.

Special cleans
For an additional competitive cost we will carry out one off special cleans to your tenement, if requested, to improve the general stair condition.

How much does the service cost?
The current service charge per flat is £78.10 per annum, inclusive of VAT, and is charged on a yearly basis in advance from the commencement of the service.  The charge is reviewed annually and any adjustments will be applied on 1st July of each year. The charge for existing customers will be reviewed when the contract is due for renewal.

The charge is non-refundable if you sell your property. However, the variance may be negotiated with the new owner.

Next steps
To provide this service in your tenement we need the majoity of owners in your stair to agree. You may wish to hold a stair meeting and to assist you we can provide further information if you wish.

If a majority of people agree to the City of Edinburgh Council regularly cleaning your stair, then you can benefit from the Edinburgh Stair Cleaning Service.
